New Faces in Naples!

Dear Naples School Community:

There is a saying that "the quality of an education system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers." For generations, Naples has been blessed with a world-class faculty and staff, and that tradition continues as we welcome a new group of dynamic educators to NCS.

As we prepare for the start of the 2017-2018 school year, I wanted to introduce many of the new faces you will see in our buildings by passing along information through our website and social media accounts. We are thrilled that Mrs. Laurie Fitzgerald will be joining our school family, and I would invite you to help us welcome her to Naples this fall.

Hope to see you soon.

Matt Frahm, Superintendent

Name: Mrs. Laurie Fitzgerald

Subject Area: Math Intervention Teacher

Why did you decide to apply/accept the job in the Naples Central School District?

I love teaching Math and have spent the last several years learning how to assist students who struggle with this subject.  The ad for the position caught my eye and the decision to accept the position will allow me to become a larger part of the community in which I reside.

What do you like most about your job?

Watching students realize that they can do something that they once thought they couldn't is by far, the best part of the job.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love to read, spend time with family and friends, and I have recently discovered a "tolerance" for camping. (Something my husband loves to do.)

What types of books/magazines would we see on your bookshelf?

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, the Harry Potter Series and the Little House on the Prairie set are all books currently residing on my shelf.

What is your favorite quote?

"A person's a person, no matter how small," by Dr. Seuss is a phrase I have admired for a long time.

What is your favorite food?

Pizza, pizza and more pizza... there can never be enough pizza.

Tell us a little about your family.

My husband, Adam, has an exceptional sense of humor and makes me laugh often.  He is a groundskeeper/auto mechanic with Naples Central School.  My son, William, is 20 years old and is currently employed by Ziebart in Canandaigua, NY.  He is a graduate of Naples Central School (2015) and although he views the world through a different lens than I, I love him with my whole heart.  My stepson, Hayden, is entering 4th grade in the Naples Central School and impresses me daily with his knowledge of technology.  I have 3 sisters (all Naples graduates) and am so fortunate to have both of my parents here on earth and residing right in Naples (my father is also a Naples graduate).  I have a large extended family and truly value each and every one.

If you were to leave a legacy here in Naples - what would it be?

I would like to explore more about the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and share this knowledge with others to help them lead happy, productive lives.

Any additional information you would like to share:

I am truly excited to be given the amazing opportunity to teach in Naples.  I have gained so much professional experience during my 18 years in Canandaigua and have been so fortunate to have acquired many friends during my time there, however I look forward to doing the same right here in my hometown.
