New Face in Naples!

Dear Naples School Community:

There is a saying that "the quality of an education system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers." For generations, Naples has been blessed with a world-class faculty and staff, and that tradition continues as we welcome a new group of dynamic educators to NCS.

As we turn our calendars to November, I wanted to introduce a new teacher you will see at the 3rd grade level in our Elementary School. We are thrilled that Ms. Julie Fitzpatrick will be joining our school family, and I would invite you to help us welcome her to Naples this fall.

Hope to see you soon.

Matt Frahm, Superintendent

Why did you decide to apply/accept the job in the Naples Central School District?

As I was looking around for jobs, I was excited to see that Naples had an opening, as I have visited the town before since I have family that lives in Canandaigua. I love the town and community from visiting places such as shops, restaurants, and the farmers market and look forward to exploring more areas in the village. I knew that the school was very highly viewed after hearing about it from others and was excited at the thought of joining the school community. I am eager to be a part of this school and cannot wait to begin this journey with third grade students!

What do you like the most about your job?

Since I have started teaching, I have truly felt the saying “You’ll never work a day in your life if you love what you do.” Teaching has not seemed like work yet, it is something that I love being a part of every day and I enjoy learning as much, if not more, from my students as they hopefully learn from me. Beginning my career as a Head Start preschool teacher taught me more than I could have imagined, and I think my heart grew a few sizes after having that position.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and exploring the outdoors. I have family and friends who own dogs, and I always love to spend time with dogs. I plan to have my own puppy soon, and I am (happily) anticipating that will take up a lot of my spare time.

What types of books/magazines would we see on your bookshelf?

I have read the popular young adult novels such as Twilight, The Hunger Games, and so on. With those, I have mixed in a few mystery and romantic comedy books, and that would be the bulk of my bookshelf. Recently and for the near future my reading has been primarily books for the classes I have been taking at Nazareth College, so I suppose those would be on my bookshelf as well.

What is your favorite quote?

I don’t know that I really have a favorite quote, but one that I feel is just inspiring enough is “A problem is a chance for you to do your best.” - Duke Ellington

What is your favorite food?

I have never been good at answering this question; it is so difficult to choose just one food. I do love pickles, and pizza.

Tell us a little about your family.

My family is wonderful. My father lives in Geneseo while my mother and step father live in Canandaigua, and I have a great relationship with all of them. I have two older siblings that are spread among different states and an extended family that is also all over the United States. My older sister lives in Baltimore, where I enjoy visiting every now and then, and my brother is currently in Colorado. We are all very close and it is no wonder I was inspired to become a teacher as my father worked for years for the ARC through Livingston-Wyoming counties in helping people with disabilities and my mother and step father are both teachers in Monroe County.

If you were to leave a legacy here in Naples-what would it be?

I would hope to leave a legacy of spreading kindness and fun. I try my best to have a positive outlook and be kind to people, as it is something that is easily contagious. I also like to have fun with anything that I do; laughing about something makes anything better.
